Should Sara Duterte run for Vice President, or President in the 2022 Elections?

Should Sara Duterte run for Vice President (VP), or President in the 2022 Elections? That is a very intriguing question for the Followers of the Duterte Family, and each of these 2 choices have their Pros and Cons. 

‘As VP’

If Sara runs for VP, especially if under the Party of Bong Bong Marcos (BBM), then it will be practically unbeatable. As the Filipino saying goes, “Tapos na ang Boksing (The Boxing Match is already over)”, it will be a Juggernaut that will mow down everybody else. 

However, it does have one big flaw, and that is if anything happens to the campaign of BBM, then the Dutertes will not have any other viable Candidate in place, and could pave the way for a Puppet of the Americans to be back in power again. 

If, for example, BBM is disqualified for some reason, then that’s it. Remember also that we do not know how far the Americans will go maintain their influence in the Philippines, they might even do something to BBM just to do that. 

So it will be a big gamble on the part of the Dutertes if BBM is left to be the only Candidate from their Allies who will run in the Elections. 

‘As President’

On the other hand, if Sara runs for President, then her Candidacy can act as a Hedge and ensure that at least one other viable Candidate will be around if anything happens to BBM’s campaign.

However, it will make things a lot more complicated also. For one, it means Sara and BBM will be competing against each other, and the Americans will always be looking for exploit any weaknesses. They will seek to “Divide and Conquer” that alliance, which could hurt both Sara and BBM’s campaign overall. 

It will also divide the Votes between Sara and BBM, making for a less decisive Victory. Of course one could just concede to the other his or her Candidacy in favor of the other just before the Elections, but which one? That will be very complicated though, IMHO. 

‘Parting Shot’

So, should the Dutertes gamble it all in one shot thru a BBM for President and Sara as VP Tandem? Or should Sara also run as President, ensuring a good Hedge if anything happens to BBM, but also make for a very complicated Political Situation? That is the question …
