Philippine-China Relations, 2024

June 23, 2024: “US disrupting Regional Peace in Asia thru the Philippines” – Global Times
The Chinese News Publication "Global Times (GT)" recently released an Article titled, "US keeps stoking Tensions despite Philippines' failed latest Provocation". Here are some Excerpts from that Article:

* "Washington's meddling is the Root Cause of the current Tension disrupting Regional Peace and Stability, and it using the Mutual Defense Treaty with Manila to harm China's Sovereignty is doomed to fail, Experts said. Apart from the Law Enforcement Forces like the CCG, the Chinese Navy is also well-prepared for any further potential provocation from the US Navy in the Region, said Analysts as the Vessels of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy have recently conducted Training Exercises and patrols in Relevant Waters."

* “In the Eyes of Regional Countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia, the Act that brings External Powers into the Regional Issue like what the Philippines is doing right now is irresponsible and absolutely unhelpful for the peaceful settlement on the Maritime Issue, Analysts said.

This is why no Regional Countries speak for Manila's provocation, and China will keep working with other Regional Countries to proceed negotiation process for the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, and hopefully, the Philippines can return to the reasonable Stance that is used to have as soon as possible, said Li.”

* “The above-mentioned Military Expert said that while the PLA Navy is not directly involved in the recent Encounters with the Philippines, it served as a strong backing to the CCG and a powerful deterrent against the Philippines and External Forces like the US.

Should the Philippines further push up provocation or External Forces interferes, leading to escalations or emergencies, the CCG and the PLA Navy have what it takes to safeguard national Sovereign Security as well as Maritime Rights and Interests, Analysts said.”

May 30, 2024: “Philippines hyping up the new CCG Regulations to gain International Sympathy” – Global Times
Here are Excerpts from the the Global Time’s (GT) latest Article about the China Coast Guard’s (CCG) new Regulations which the Administration of President Bong Bong Marcos (PBBM) said was a “Provocation”:

* “Marcos' hyping of CCG's Regulations came after the Philippine Foreign Ministry issued a Statement on Monday protesting China's implementation of the Annual Fishing Ban in the South China Sea, saying that it "raises tensions" in the South China Sea, despite the fact that this Chinese Policy has been widely recognized for its Ecological, Economic and Social Benefits as an important Means of conserving Marine Fisheries Resources in Waters around China.

* “Experts reached by the Global Times noted that the recent Hype around the South China Sea Issue by the Philippines ahead of the 21st IISS Shangri-La Dialogue are aimed at creating some News Buzz and thereby helping the Country to turn the upcoming Conference into a Venue for promoting its Illegal Claims.

* “"By hyping up China's recent Regulations, the Philippines is actually using this to attract international attention to China's Actions in the South China Sea, and attempting to portray China's legitimate Actions as a Challenge to the Philippines," Chen said. Given that the Philippine President will deliver a Keynote Address on Friday to mark the opening of the Shangri-La Dialogue, Chen predicted that Marcos will continue to mention this Matter and try to deceive the International Community for Sympathy.

* “The Philippines' recent Series of Hype and Tough Rhetoric will only serve to worsen the existing Disputes between Beijing and Manila, heighten Regional Security Tensions, and draw increased International Attention to the South China Sea Issue, Analysts said.”

May 25, 2024: The Global Times says that the US continues to use the Philippines to create Trouble in the Region
Here are Excerpts from another Article that the Chinese News Organization “Global Times” made recently about the Philippines, the United States (US) and Taiwan

* “The establishment of a Coast Guard Station so close to the Taiwan Island is clearly a move by the Philippines to cooperate with the US in monitoring the Taiwan Straits and to threaten the Chinese Mainland. The US uses the Philippines to monitor and provoke China. The establishment of the Coast Guard Station can be seen as a Substantive Step, Chen Hong, executive director of the Asia Pacific Studies Center at East China Normal University, told the Global Times. It is a preparation for creating tension in the Taiwan Straits, Chen added.

* “The South China Sea and the Taiwan question are Affairs related to China's National Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity, which are Red Lines that cannot be crossed by any Country. The Philippines holds Fantasies of attempting to pressure China by interfering when it comes to the Taiwan question, forcing China to retreat or make Concessions on Matters related to Territorial Security. The Philippines still does not realize China's Firm Stance on Red-Line Questions and continues to hold onto its Naive Decisions. The Actions taken by the Philippines will only lead to a Crisis in the Luzon Strait.

* “The US, which appears to protect the Philippines behind the Scenes, only sees the Manila as a Tool to confront China in the South China Sea, pretending to be an all-powerful Mastermind, manipulating the Philippines to provoke China and disrupt the Region, said Ding Duo, a Deputy Director from the Institute of Maritime Law and Policy at the China Institute for South China Sea Studies.

May 18, 2024: The Global Times on the China Coast Guard’s new Regulations
The Global Times (GT) News Publication in China recently published an Article about the new China Coast Guard (CCG) Regulations, here are some Excerpts from that Article:

* “The Philippine Media associated the promulgation of China's Regulations on Administrative Law-Enforcement Procedures of Coast Guard Agencies (hereafter referred to as Procedures) with Philippine "Local Fishermen" engaging in Provocations in the surrounding Waters of China's Huangyan Dao.

Chinese Experts on Saturday slammed the Interpretation, saying that these Filipino Media Outlets deliberately sensationalized and distorted the Issue, maliciously slandered the Procedures, exposing ulterior Motives and a Guilty Conscience.

* “Ding Duo, deputy director of the Institute of Maritime Law and Policy at the China Institute for South China Sea Studies, told the Global Times on Saturday that the malicious linking of the Chinese Measures with a recent Incident involving Filipino Ships intruding into the Waters near China's Huangyan Dao by the Philippine Media, as well as the irresponsible speculations and distortions they made, have inflated confrontational emotions among Filipinos.

"The deliberate hype, intentional distortion, and even malicious smearing are for ulterior motives, reflecting the Philippines' provocative yet guilty conscience, aiming to mislead international public opinion, divert public attention, and hype the 'China Threat Theory,'" Ding said.

* “China's Goodwill that allows Filipino Fishermen to fish in the Waters near Huangyan Dao came with a prerequisite that Filipino Fishermen must abide by relevant Chinese Laws, Regulations and International Laws, respect Chinese Territorial Sovereignty, Chen said.

April 20, 2024: China’s Response on the planned sinking of a Chinese-made Ship in the SCS
Here's another Political Cartoon with accompanying Article by the Chinese News Publication, "Global Times" from a Week ago about the Philippines and the South China Sea (SCS), you can find the Link to it below. Here are some selected Excerpts from the Article:

* "The "BRP Lake Caliraya," formerly "MT Lapu-Lapu," was an Oil Tanker built by a Chinese Shipyard for the Philippine National Oil Company, and was also a witness to previous cooperation between China and the Philippines. It was later converted by the Philippine Navy into its first-ever Replenishment Ship. The Philippine Side is preparing to use it as a Target in a simulated "Enemy Ship" Scenario, showing clear Provocative Intent. However, they are attempting to cover it up and refuse to acknowledge it, making the Farcical Claim that it is "Not Intentional." This Approach of trying to have it both Ways has turned Manila into a Joke in the Region and is an Example of its Opportunistic Behavior in the entire South China Sea Issue."

* "Perhaps Marcos Jr. is fantasizing about exchanging Economic Investments with the US by cooperating with it in its competition with China. But, the Problem is that the US has been the Philippines' most important Ally for the past few Decades. If the US really wanted to help the Philippines, would it have waited until Today? During the recent US-Japan-Philippines Summit, Manila expressed hope that the US and Japan would invest $100 billion in the Philippines. To Outsiders, it seems like the Philippines is demanding Support from the US against China, but what it received was a Vague Promise of "Stimulating $100 billion in Investment" from the US and Japan. Just from this one Detail, it is clear that the Philippines cannot possibly obtain the Benefits it Desires by cooperating with Washington, let alone solve its increasingly serious Domestic Development Issues."

* "We hope that the Philippines will not allow the "Spiritual Victory" of sinking Target Ships to make them too excited, leading to the Illusion that they can take on real Ships. China's Restraint is not unlimited, and if the Philippines and external Forces cross the Bottom Line and Red Line of Peace and Stability in the South China Sea, China will definitely take Action when necessary, which is something the Philippines cannot afford."

April 25, 2024: Philippines as the US’ Cannon Fodder
The Chinese News Publication "Global Times" published this Article recently about the Philippines, and accompanied an Article with it. Here are some selected Excerpts from that Article:

* "While the Philippines is absent from this Year's Western Pacific Naval Symposium, a Regional Naval Cooperation Mechanism Platform, it is exerting Maximum Effort in the Balikatan, or "Shoulder to Shoulder," Military Drills with the US. This is not a Coincidence, it displays an Attitude - the Philippines is uninterested in engaging in Dialogues and instead opts to escalate Tensions."

* "It cannot be ruled out that the Philippines choosing to skip the Western Pacific Naval Symposium is an attempt to hype up Discussions on the South China Sea, attracting international attention and disrupting the Forum. However, Manila did not succeed. The Meeting was successful, Zhang Junshe, a Chinese Military Expert, told the Global Times. Even US Pacific Fleet Commander Stephen Koehler told CNN "I think it's a great opportunity for all navies to get together and discuss all the Isues.""

* "Rational Filipinos are well aware that the US is taking Advantage of the Philippines. "The US is using us to implement its 'Pivot to Asia,'" writes former Philippine Presidential Spokesperson Rigoberto D. Tiglao, adding that "the US is not going to risk War over these desolate Islands.""

February 14, 2024: Nine Chinese E-Jeeps arrived in Bacolod
The Chinese Company e-Future Motors recently donated one E-Jeep to the City of Bacolod and eight more were delivered to the Cooperative Groups there that placed orders for them. e-Future Motors said that Drivers and Operators of their E-Jeeps can save more than 60% of their Operational costs and a single Charge of one hour can give the Vehicles enough power to travel up 140 km.

Frankly I was surprised that a Chinese Company was able to make inroads in Bacolod because as far as I can tell, a number of Anti-China, Pro-United States (US) Personalities are from that Area.

Good though that China was able to make such Progress there, but I doubt that the People there will appreciate their Contribution. I hope that China can also make inroads in other Areas that are more friendly to them also like Davao and Cagayan
