MPAC Mk III BA-488 is the first ever PN Vessel to officially fire a Missile

I was able to visit the Naval Station Andrada Museum along Roxas Boulevard recently during the supposed “Open House” of all Military Museums in the Philippines, and it was my first time there. The museum is relatively small, with Scale Models of most assets used by the Philippine Navy (PN) and the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC).

Among other things, they also have mementos of visiting navies on one display shelf. One of their main displays though is are the empty Spike ER Canisters used in the first ever official missile firing of the PN, which was made by a Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC) Mk III with hull number 488 (BA-488).

As per the Description Plate of the Cannisters, BA-488 made the historic missile launches last November 21, 2018 off Lamao Point in Bataan.
