The Contract for the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) work worth Php 3 billion for the 32 km long Bridge connecting Bataan to Cavite over Manila Bay has been signed and the work will be completed by January 2022.

The Design Work is expensive because of the nature of the Bridge, at 32 km long it will be the longest Bridge in the Philippines and within the Top 20 Longest Bridges in the World as of this writing.

The current longest Bridge in the Philippines is the Candaba Viaduct (a Viaduct is a long Bridge-like Structure carrying a Road or Railway over Ground) in Luzon which is 5 km long.

The longest Bridge in the Philippines over a body of Water is the San Juanico Bridge which is 2.16 km long. The Candaba Viaduct is over 6 times shorter while the San Juanico Bridge is over 14 times shorter than the Bataan-Cavite Bridge.

Currently ongoing construction is the Cebu-Cordova Link which is 8.5 km long and will be the longest Bridge in the Philippines until if and when the Bataan-Cavite Bridge is built and surpasses it.

The Cebu-Cordova Link is still over 3 times shorter than the Bataan-Cavite Bridge.
