The BRP Rizal (PS-74) vessel that was decommissioned recently by the Philippine Navy (PN) served with the United States Navy (USN) as the USS Murrelet (AM-372) Minesweeper during the Korean War and won five Battle Star awards there.
Battle Stars were awarded to ships then for meritorious participation in battle, or for having suffered damage during battle conditions.
