The Katropa DWDD Facebook Page and Youtube Channel featured the new BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN) last April 17, 2021. I have edited their original Video to show only the Frigate itself. 

Among the things they discussed were the major Weapons and Equipment of the Ship like the Mistral RC Surface to Air Missile (SAM), Oto Melara 76 mm Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM), Torpedo Tubes and the Aselsan SMASH 30 mm Cannon.

The Philippine Navy (PN) recently gave a Status Update of their BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) Frigate recently, and these are:

* The Ship had completed and passed its first Sea Acceptance Trial which was done last November 30 to December 1, 2020. 

BRP Antonio Luna starts its Sea Trials

The BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), the second of the new Jose Rizal class Frigates of the Philippine Navy (PN) has started Sea Trials in the East Sea off the Coast of South Korea as can be seen from the Vessel’s tracks on the Vessel Finder App on Android.

BRP Antonio Luna Frigate Delivery Date?

There are conflicting reports of the delivery date of the BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN).

News reports from August 2019 like with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) said it was going to be September 2020.

However, the South Korean Press and BRP Luna’s manufacturer itself Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in their Press Release on November 8, 2019 puts it at 2021.

But then again, the local Press and the PN itself on its post dated November 8, 2019 of their official Facebook page puts it as September or October 2020.

I hope that this is cleared up somewhat, I for one am hoping for a 2020 delivery of the ship.

BRP Antonio Luna launched in South Korea

News of the launching of the BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) are starting to trickle in from the South Korean Press.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Philippines and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for the design and construction of a "new Patrol Ship" starting next year.

This could be the Corvettes which the government said will be constructed by HHI.
