Panatag Shoal not included in MDT – U.S. to Sec. Lorenzana

Just this February 2020, the United States (US) practically told Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana that the Philippines’ claimed Territories in the South China Sea (SCS) are NOT included in the Philippines’ Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) with them.

The US told Lorenzana that Scarborough (or Panatag) Shoal is not included in the MDT, only “Metropolitan Philippines” is included. So the way I see it, if the nearby Panatag Shoal is not included, then how much more our other claimed Territories in the SCS that are much farther out?

They are basically saying in Filipino, “Bahala na kayo sa buhay ninyo diyan sa SCS”. And to think they have the gall to demand to us not to allow a Chinese Company to take over the Hanjin Shipyard in Subic?

This shows that the US only looks after its own interests, but not the interests of the Philippines. If our interests coincides with theirs then good, but if not “e di sorry na lang kayo”.

Dissolve also the MDT with the Philippines – Pat Buchanan

Pat Buchanan, a popular media figure deeply identified with the Republican Party in the United States (US), not only agrees with President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to terminate the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) with the US, but is also now telling US President Donald Trump to also pull out of the Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) with the Philippines.

Also note on his article how he is indifferent about helping the Philippines fight a war with China on, as per his words, “… Rocks and Reefs in the South China Sea (SCS) …”

So with these Americans, the Democrats are leading the interference with our internal issues by asking for the release of jailed Senator Leila De Lima, and the Republicans (of which Trump belongs to) are indifferent about the SCS issue.

I noticed also in these articles talking about the VFA that they keep mentioning how much the US is giving us and/or has given us over the years in terms of Military Assistance, which is really Peanuts to what they are giving to other Countries.

Let me write a post about that later, so everyone can see and compare how much they are really giving us.
