Notice of Award for the Philippine Marines’ 81 mm Mortar Project released in December 2019

Another great news, the bidding for the Philippine Marine Corps’ (PMC) 81 mm Mortar Project last August 2019 was successful and the Notice of Award (NoA) was given to the Spanish company Expal Systems SA in December 2019.

The Contract is worth Php 176 million (Usd 3.4 million) for 30 sets, or equivalent to Php 5.9 million (Usd 113k) per set. The sets include Ballistic Computers in Shock and Waterproof Cases and also include Electro-Optical (EO) Systems with Laser Rangefinders and Thermal Imagers.

Philippine Marines going High Tech with their 81 mm Mortar Acquisition

The Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) is going “high-tech” with their latest acquisition for an unspecified number of 81 mm Mortars by requiring a portable Ballistic Computer with it and a portable Electro-Optical (EO) System for the Forward Observer (FO) unit.

The Ballistic Computer will be encased in a Shockproof, Water-resistant Aluminum Case while the EO system for the FO will have a Laser Rangefinder and Thermal Imager. The Laser Rangefinder will enable accurate measurement of distance while the Thermal Imager will allow observations to be made at night.

Bidding is set for this month with the Contract Price at Php 186 million. If successful, delivery is set to within one year from the receipt of the Notice to Proceed (NTP).
