Busway Infrastructure being completed in EDSA

The Busway or a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System is coming to the Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA). The outermost lane will be dedicated for Buses only and will be separated by Concrete Barriers.

The existing Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) 3 Stations will be utilized as Bus Stops as well as other dedicated stations for the Busway.

The only sort of fly in the Ointment here is that Passengers will have to enter or leave on most of the existing Buses on the right side, opposite to the Busway entrances, but since the Busway itself is separated by barriers then it won’t be as hazardous to the Passengers.

The Government is planning to mandate Buses that will use this system to have an alternate door also on the left side.

DoTr notes down completion of 120 Airport Projects since July 2016

The Department of Transportation (DoTr) reported on the 120 Airport Projects that were completed under the Administration of President Rodrigo Duterte from June 2016 to February 2020. Among these Projects are:

* Bohol-Panglao International Airport – Started by the PNoy Administration but never finished. The Feasibility Study of this Project started in 2000 but it took another 5 years before construction began. By June 2016 when the Project was transitioned to the Duterte Administration, its schedule had already slipped by 48%. It was finally inaugurated in November 2018.

* Mactan-Cebu International Airport – Started also by the PNoy Administration, but upon transfer to the Duterte Administration its schedule had already been delayed by 11 months. It was inaugurated in 2017 and is now fully operational.

* Sangley Airport – Construction started in 2019 and inaugurated just this month (February 2020).

* Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) Project - Implementation of this project was delayed by 10 years, now it is fully operational with a total of 13 radars (compared to just 3 before) ensuring 100% coverage of Philippine airspace for aviation safety.

* Bicol International Airport – Delayed for 11 years but is now more than 50% complete

First Phase of the Mindanao Railway to start construction in the First Quarter of 2020

The construction of the first phase of the Mindanao Railway from Digos to Davao and then Tagum will start in the First Quarter of next year (2020).

Ultimately the Railway Network with all Phases completed is projected to reach all the way to Zamboanga City. The first phase will be funded by China, and likely will the other phases also if all goes well.

Projects like these I think is probably what is spooking our former (and still current? LOL) Colonial Masters the United States (US) so much that’s why they are trying to establish even closer ties with our military.

Note that China also has other high value, high visibility projects pending that they are likely to fund like the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge which may materialize or at least start under President Rodrigo Duterte’s term.
