Here is a Song that was sung reportedly around the time of the Philippine-American War called, “Damn, damn, damn the Filipinos”, and it’s actually quite catchy.
Just to explain some of the Lyrics, our American “Friends” called us, “Cross-eyed Kakiack Ladrones”, and I can’t find what they meant with “Kakiack”, but “Ladrone” as per the Merriam-Webster Dictionary means “Thief” or “Robber”.
Also, when they said, “Civilize 'em with a Krag”, apparently they thought we were “uncivilized”, and they were going to “civilize” us with their “Krag”, which referred to their “Krag-Jorgensen Rifle” which was what was issued to them at that time.
Anyway, here are the Lyrics:
“ln that land of dopy dreams,
Lovely, peaceful Philippines,
Where the Bolo-man is hiking Night and Day;
Where Tagalogs steal and lie,
And Americanos die,
There you hear the Soldiers sing this Evening lay;
(Chorus)
Damn, damn, damn the Filipinos,
Cross-eyed kakiack Ladrones,
Underneath our starry Flag,
Civilize 'em with a Krag,
And return us to our own beloved homes”.
