January 31, 2025: Chinese Companies sell record number of EVs in Indonesia
Despite their ongoing Territorial Disputes in the South China Sea (SCS) over the Natuna Islands, Chinese Electric Vehicle (EV) Manufacturers still were able to sell a record number of their EVs in Indonesia in 2024, more than doubling that of 2023 when they sold over 43,000 Units.

The Chinese Company "Build Your Dreams (BYD)" sold the most number of Evs there with 15,000 Units. The 43,000 Evs sold is only around 5% of the total number of Vehicles sold in Indonesia last Year, but the Sales of Conventional Vehicles haver already gone down by 14% compared to 2023, reflecting the changing Consumer Preferences in that Country.

BYD is expecting to complete its Usd 1.3 billion worth EV Assembly Plant in West Java by 2026 and it will be capable of assembling up to 100,000 EVs per Year, which will likely further increase the adoption of EVs in Indonesia.

So while the Philippines is busy constantly quarreling with the China and only China over Territorial Disputes and not with other Countries who have also stolen our Territory like Malaysia, Vietnam and Taiwan, the Indonesia Coast Guard which is also known as the "Bakamla" in the Indonesia Language was out busy establishing solid relations with the China Coast Guard (CCG)

This Despite the Fact that both Indonesia and China also have an ongoing Territorial Dispute over the Natuna Islands. No less than the Vice Admiral of the Bakamla, Dr. Irvansyah, led a Delegation that visited Beijing in China recently to meet with Top Officials of the CCG.

Both Sides agreed during the Meeting to deepen Pragmatic Cooperation, Safeguard Maritime Security and Order, and to properly handle Maritime Disputes. The Delegation also got to visit several CCG Ships and Units in Guangzhou City in the Guangdong Province during their four-Day visit in China.

Indonesia, the largest Economy in South East Asia (SEA) in Terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has recently been elevated to become a Full Member now of the Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) Intergovernmental Organization, bringing the total number of Countries in the Organization to ten.

The BRICS Organization now comprise of the following Countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Indonesia

Three other Countries in SEA, namely Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam are already Partial or Partner Countries in BRICS, and are just awaiting their elevation to Full Member Status. Another SEA Country, Laos, has expressed its Interest in joining the Organization also.

Remember that BRICS is dominated by China and Russia, and Indonesia also has Territorial Disputes with China, but they refused to be goaded into antagonizing China over this and also refused to be a Dog to the United States (US) like the Philippines is now.
