PN hopes to get 16 more AAVs and 12 more MPACs

Just some important highlights I’ve summarized from the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s (PDI) article about the Philippine Navy’s (PN) plans:

* 16 more Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAV) are planned for acquisition which if realized will bring the total number of AAVs to 24.

* Six AAVs are planned for deployment to each Landing Dock (LD) of which we already have two (the Tarlac class vessels) plus another two LDs are up for rebidding.

* The manufacturer of the Korea Assault Amphibious Vehicle KAAV-7A1 that we bought, Hanhwa Defense, donated Php 20 million worth of Mission Essential Equipment for the Vehicles.

* An additional 12 Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC) are planned for acquisition in the current horizon (Horizon 2).

* The MPAC Mk 4 will be assigned to the 4th Boat Attack Division of the Philippine Fleet

Ship to Shore Assault by the PMC during DAGIT-PA (Video)

A video from PTV of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) launching an Amphibious Assault from the BRP Davao del Sur (LD-602) Landing Dock (LD) using their Korea Assault Amphibious Vehicle KAAV-7A1 during the “DAGIT-PA 03-19” Joint Exercise of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

As mentioned by one of the Marines in the video, before we just used to hitch a ride with the Americans on their Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAV) during joint exercises with them, but now at least we have some on our own which we can use.

The PMC’s brand new KAAVs used in a SMEE with the USMC

The Philippine Marine Corps’ (PMC) Korea Amphibious Assault Vehicles KAAV-7A1 just went thru with their first exercise during a Subject Matter Expert Exchange with United States Marine Corps (USMC) personnel in Subic.

The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS) caption says that the vehicles involved were “Philippine Amphibious Assault Vehicles”. If so, it seems that the KAAVs have been repainted from the Olive Drab paint they were received in to a digital camouflage pattern which looks similar to other vehicles of the PMC.
