PN hopes to get 16 more AAVs and 12 more MPACs

Just some important highlights I’ve summarized from the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s (PDI) article about the Philippine Navy’s (PN) plans:

* 16 more Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAV) are planned for acquisition which if realized will bring the total number of AAVs to 24.

* Six AAVs are planned for deployment to each Landing Dock (LD) of which we already have two (the Tarlac class vessels) plus another two LDs are up for rebidding.

* The manufacturer of the Korea Assault Amphibious Vehicle KAAV-7A1 that we bought, Hanhwa Defense, donated Php 20 million worth of Mission Essential Equipment for the Vehicles.

* An additional 12 Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC) are planned for acquisition in the current horizon (Horizon 2).

* The MPAC Mk 4 will be assigned to the 4th Boat Attack Division of the Philippine Fleet
