USCGC Stratton Personnel helped fix problems aboard the BRP Bonifacio in October 2019

United States Coast Guard (USCG) Personnel from the Legend class Cutter USCGC Stratton worked aboard the BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS-17) vessel of the Philippine Navy (PN) for a couple of days in October 2019 as part of the Maritime Training Activity (MTA) Sama-Sama.

The USCG Personnel reportedly helped resolve a number of issues aboard the BRP Bonifacio, including:
* Resolved issues preventing the main Gas Turbines from starting
* Corrected Hydraulic Leaks
* Chased down and corrected various complications with the main Diesel Engine
* Restored five out of six inoperable Dewatering and Fire Pumps which required a complete rebuild of two Engines
* Provided extensive Maintenance and Firefighting Training and tested Firefighting Systems

I think it is a bit embarrassing to see the number of problems the USCG ended up helping fix on the BRP Bonifacio, but hopefully now that the Crew is trained it will result in less problems in the future.

I wonder if the other Hamilton Cutters they gave to other countries like Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Vietnam are in worst or better condition. Also, this activity reminded and made me wonder if the United States (US) also required an annual Inspection Requirement on the Del Pilar class ships like the other ships they donated to other countries?

No mention of such requirement in the Press about the Del Pilar class ships when they were delivered, but other donations by the US like the former USS Trenton donated to India and renamed to the INS Jalashva required annual inspections. I will write more about that on a separate post later.
