The Inquirer reports that the transfer of Usd 18 million worth of Smart Bombs from the United States (US) could be made next Week (November 22-28, 2020) instead of next Month (December 2020) as told by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana in previous News Reports.
The Inquirer also said that the Smart Bombs to be provided are manufactured by Raytheon. If so, then that will rule out the GBU-38 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) as those are manufactured by the Boeing Company.
Raytheon instead manufactures the Paveway series of Smart Bombs, which could be used by the OV-10 Bronco and A-29 Super Tucano Aircraft of the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
The PAF is reportedly also planning to integrate the GBU-49 Paveway II into its FA-50PH Fighting Eagle Aircraft.
