Some updates recently on the Helicopter acquisitions of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) from Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana:
* The United States (US) had warned the Philippines that the acquisition of 16 Mi-171 Hip Helicopters from Russia will be covered by their Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) Law, which will result in Sanctions by the US against the Philippines
* Because of the US’ warning, the PAF is now considering buying additional 16 S-70i Black Hawk Helicopters instead of the Mi-171 Helicopters
* Despite the US’ sanctions against Turkey recently, Sec. Lorenzana said that Turkey had assured that they will still get Engines for the T129 ATAK Helicopter, but he did not provide any more details about it

The nerve of these Americans to threaten us with Sanctions thru CAATSA if we buy the Mi-171 Helicopters from Russia. Why are they bullying us into joining their fight against Russia?
The fight is between them and Russia, the Philippines has nothing to do with it, so why force us to side with them? The Philippines has no quarrel with Russia, in fact President Rodrigo Duterte has a lot of respect for their President Vladimir Putin.
So if the US needs us, they will bully us into joining them, but if we need them, they will just ignore us? Remember that this is the same US who blatantly abandoned former President PNoy in Scarborough Shoal in 2012 against China.
PNoy was a very good Dog to them (arf, arf), and yet they abandoned him when he asked for their help to fight China. Is that a proper “Alliance”, that they are the only ones who gets to decide which way to go?
Only they get to decide “Who” to fight, and “When”? Typical American hypocrisy.
I recently discussed in another Article the US’ Sanctions on Turkey and how it will affect the Philippines’ acquisition of the T129, and it seems that the DND has decided to still keep the acquisition going.
However, they and Turkey are still not talking up to now on what options they are pursuing. I’m not really sure if keeping quiet about their options will help their Cause, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

CAATSA is a tool of the US to force a country to buy US made defense weapons and systems because they know the Russian made are not only good quality and proven yet cheaper. The non alliance nations org should be revive to fight back against US bullying. The Mi 17 chopper is much better than US sikorski chopper. This is how US control and disrespect our siverignity.
