BW's Article about China asking the Philippines again to remove BRP Madre from Ayungin Shoal |
On a more serious Note, one Headline that caught my Eye was China asking again the Philippines to remove the BRP Sierra Madre (LT-57) from Ayungin Shoal. Remember that several Months ago, I posted about how a number of Chinese Accounts on Social Media were saying the same Thing, although unofficially.
Also if the Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) observations can be trusted, then it seems that China has become more aggressive around Ayungin Shoal in Terms of the resupply of the Philippines’ Troops there. China had long wanted that Ship removed from that Shoal, at least since the time of AbNoy Panot.
But things quieted down during the time of Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (FPRRD), I think mainly because he was close to China and of course they didn’t want to embarrass their Friend with such a move.
But now under the “Neither Here nor There” Foreign Policy of Bong Bong Marcos (BBM), they might’ve decided it is time to do so. They also could’ve gotten fed up of the “Passive-Aggressive” Attitude of the Agencies of BBM’s Administration like the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), PCG, the Senate, etc.
Maybe China wants to stress that they are not afraid at all of the Philippines’ Alliance with the US, and wants to prove and make a strong Statement about that.
And there is also, of course, the nine Military Bases that BBM gifted to the Americans. Despite the AFP’s constant prouncements these, “… will not be used for offensive Operations against any Country”, China is not stup1d enough to believe that.
If the US does use those Bases to make offensive operations on China, what will the AFP do, then? Kick the Americans out? Really? That’s not even anywhere close to “Reality”. In the end, when American Soldiers are dying left and right in times of War, the US will do what it wants to do, regardless of how the AFP feels about it.
Whatever the Reasons, if China does make a move on Ayungin Shoal, then they probably wouldn’t be too worried about the AFP which they can likely easily rout. They will likely be more interested in what the US will do.
At any rate, I think China will be prepared for any Scenarios and Consequences. A confrontation will likely boil down to two Scenarios: One would be a short Skirmish between them and the US, which will somehow end at least temporarily for some Reason.
Or worse is that it could result in a larger War, bringing the rest of the World in and start World War Three (WW3), which would then be ironic since everybody thought it will be Taiwan which will do it, and less likely to be Ayungin Shoal.
So, will a War come sooner than expected here in Asia? We might know for sure soon …
