South East Asia (SEA), 2023-2024

October 24, 2024: Four SEA Countries now are BRICS Partner-Countries
The Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) Organization recently announced that they have accepted thirteen Countries to be "Partner Countries", and of those thirteen, four are in South East Asia (SEA), namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand

A Partner Country is not a Full Member Country yet to the Organization, but it is definitely one Step closer to that Direction. Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand sent their Foreign Ministers to the recent BRICS Summit while Vietnam was represented there by their Prime Minister.

Note that Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam have Territorial Disputes with China, arguably the BRICS' most Influential Member, and yet they have chosen to be still Part of the Organization.

January 20, 2024: Philippines under BBM hopelessly out of Touch with the Rest of SEA when it comes to Geopolitics
I agree with this Article, as I keep saying, the Philippines is the only Country in the entire South East Asian (SEA) Region which the United States (US) is able to fool. Here are some Quotes from the Article:

* "Only the Philippines [in SEA] gave the Americans open access to Military Bases around its Territory. These are supposedly for “Civil Defense” but, in reality, are staging areas for American Military Forces in the event of Hostilities between the US and China over Taiwan."

* "The Philippines is evidently becoming an Outlier in ASEAN. No less than Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Liong asked the confronting Question: Is the Philippines wanting to get in the middle of a Conflict between the Superpowers that could turn the Country into a Battleground?"

* "So far, the Philippines has not received much except Investment Pledges from America and a renewed Commitment from the US Millennium Challenge Corp. which is the State Department conduit for the US Agency for International Development. What Filipinos do not seem to notice is the Americans selling Military Equipment to the Philippines in the same Manner it does to Taiwan to the tune of billions of dollars while over 50% of Filipinos cannot afford a decent living. All if this while Marcos repeatedly insists that he continues to try to find Solutions to the everyday Problems the average Filipinos face."

November 28, 2023: SEA Countries unlikely to turn against China over an SCS COC
Here is a nice Article talking about the Code of Conduct (COC) in the South China Sea (SCS), particularly about Bobong Bong Marcos’ (BBM) attempt to side track China and negotiate a COC with Vietnam and Malaysia instead. Here are some important Quotes from the Article:

* “I don’t think Malaysia, Vietnam, or both, or Asean as a whole, will compromise their good Strategic, Trade and Economic Relations with China over Marcos’ Proposal for a new COC among Claimant States of which China is not included. I don’t think this Proposal is viable among Asean Countries.

* “Reality check, and just to be blunt about it, China’s diplomatic influence in the Asean Region, partly due to its Economic Might, it being the largest Trading Partner of almost all, if not all Asean Countries, means that it can’t simply be sidelined. Southeast Asian Countries would most likely prefer to engage China to secure their own National Interests, which is a pragmatic Course of Action, rather than confront and sideline China over the SCS Dispute. Note that Asean and China are each other’s largest Trading Partners. Trade between the two is valued at about $975 billion. China is also the fourth largest source of Foreign Direct Investment for Asean, with a value of $13.8 billion in 2021.
