Bong Bong Marcos (BBM) and his Government has been constantly provoking China by talking trash against them for some time now, prompting China to lash out in retaliation. The Headlines don't lie, the sequence of Events has been very clear:
* March 4, 2024: BBM during a Public Speech in front of the the Lowy Institute in Australia said that he would push back against China. On the same Day, his Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo asked other Countries in South East Asia (SEA) to stand up against China.
* March 5, 2024: The very next Day, a China Coast Guard (CCG) Ship fired Water Cannons at the Unaizah Mae 4 (UM4) Boat that was trying to conduct a Resupply Mission in the South China Sea (SCS), causing minor Injuries to four of the PN Personnel onboard. Another CCG Ship collided with a PCG Vessel, causing minor Damages to both Ships.
As I keep saying here, if the Philippines is looking for a Fight, China will give it to them. China will not back down, they will never back down because they are one of the foremost Superpower Countries in the World right now.
If Things will keep escalating like this, then it will likely end up in a Shooting War between the two Countries. The United States (US) will likely intervene on behalf of the Philippines ... But only to stop the War, they definitely are hesitant to fight a Country that is almost as strong as them.
And the continuing Tension and eventual War will definitely destroy the Philippines' Economy. Remember that China is already particularly angry with the BBM Government for activating and expanding the US' Military Bases in the Philippines that will be used against them during a War between the US and China over Taiwan.
The better Solution to this ongoing Problem would be to, instead of antagonizing China, BBM should establish better Relations with them, conduct Joint Military and Coast Guard Activities with them while negotiating for a safe resupply of our Troops there in the SCS.
But this is unlikely because BBM doesn't have the Political Will or Ability to sell this properly to the Filipino People, all he knows is supposedly defending Philippine Territory, but only against China while he remains silent over Sabah against Malaysia.
His Government also insists on being friendly with Vietnam who stole Pugad Island from the Philippines. Where is the "Defending the Sovereignty" there now, then? Just utter Hypocrisy to serve the US' interests in the Philippines ...
