The VN Express International News Publication, which claims to be the most read Newspaper in Vietnam, seems to be trolling the Philippines when it headlined an Article about how the small Country of Cambodia managed to get more Foreign Tourists than the much larger Philippines recently.
Cambodia, which only has a Population of 17 million People, managed to attract 4.8 million Foreign Tourists in the first nine Months, or from January to September of this Year of 2024, while the much larger Philippines with a Population of 115 million People, which is more than six times larger than that of Cambodia, only managed to attract 4 million Foreign Tourists in the same Period.
Thailand topped the list of Foreign Tourists to Cambodia with 1.52 million Visitors, followed by Vietnam with 973,000 and China with 607,000, this according to a Report by the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia.
Before the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic in 2019, the Philippines received 8.2 million Foreign Visitors compared to only 6.6 million by Cambodia in the same Year. But now, under the Administration of Bong Bong Marcos (BBM), with only three Months left in the Year, it will be difficult for the Philippines to hit its target of 7.7 million Foreign Tourists for 2024.
One main Reason for the low Foreign Visits to the Philippines is its strict Policies towards Chinese Citizens and limited Visa Flexibility overall for all Foreign Tourists. In 2019, the Philippines received 1.7 million Chinese Tourists, but for the first half of this Year, it only received 199,000 such Tourists.
In fact, the entire Year of last Year of 2023, the Philippines received only 263,000 Chinese Tourists. This low turnout has forced Airlines to cut down on the number of its direct Flights to China.
So again, just like with China cutting down of its Imports of Bananas from the Philippines as I had made a recent Video about, it seems that the United States (US) and Europe are unable to fill in when China cuts down something from or to the Philippines.
This is another Example of the Philippine Economy suffering because of the inability of the West to make up for the loss of the Market from China. So far, BBM’s pivot to the West and away from China has only resulted in a negative Result for the Philippines.
Notice also that this Piece of News had to be highlighted by a Foreign Press and not the Philippine Press because they are Pro-US and Anti-China, and they want to protect the Pro-US, Anti-China Administration from negative News.
