It is a bit funny and ironic how the Opposition and the Press are so angry at China for supposedly stealing our territory while at the same time be so cavalier about the fact that Vietnam did the same, like in the case of Pugad Island, for example.
For those who don’t know the story, Pugad Island used to be occupied by Philippine forces, but during the time of President Ferdinand Marcos, all the troops guarding there were lured by the Vietnamese for a party at another island. Some reports say that the Vietnamese even used Prostitutes as bait.

When the party was over and the Philippine troops tried to return to Pugad Island, they found that the Vietnamese had already occupied it and refused to let them step foot on the island.
Take note also about the fact that when the incident happened, the U.S. did absolutely nothing about it despite the fact that their bases were still here in the Philippines back then, probably because even then they refused to recognize the territories that we claimed in the South China Sea (SCS).
