Philippine Marines getting Force Protection Equipment


It looks like the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) is getting more Force Protection Equipment (FPE) to the tune of 7,491 sets of Body Armor and 9,528 Helmets worth a total of Php 683 million. Bidding is set for next month (November 2019). If successful, this bidding will be enough to equip all of the PMC with FPE.

The Body Armor set includes:
- Basic Vest with integrated 30L Back Pack and 3L Bladder
- Hard Armor Panel Insert rated to NIJ Standard 0101.06 Level III+ equivalent to be able to stop up to 5.56 x 45 mm caliber rifle rounds
- Side Flap Soft Armor Insert rated NIJ Standard
0106.01/0108.01 Level IIIA which is equivalent to be able to stop up to .357 Sig caliber pistol rounds
- Ammunition, Medicine and Radio Pouches
- Carrying Bag

Some sets will have additional Collar, Throat, Shoulder, Upper Arm, Lower Abdominal, Groin and Leg Guards, plus Tactical Gloves, Elbow and Knee Pads. The helmets are rated NIJ Standard 0106.01/0108.01 Level IIIA which is equivalent to be able to stop up to .357 Sig caliber pistol rounds.
