Russia built a NATO Spec Identification Friend or Foe System for Turkey's S-400 Batteries

Russia reportedly built a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) standard Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system for the S-400 Triumf Surface to Air Missile (SAM) Batteries it sold to Turkey.

This means that Turkey’s S-400 systems will be able to identify allied NATO aircraft from non-NATO aircraft. Turkey reportedly already successfully tested the IFF system recently.

Now just because Russia knows how to construct a NATO standard IFF system doesn’t mean they can successfully “fake” their own aircraft to “look” like a NATO aircraft to any NATO IFF system already, and this is because for one, IFF codes are resettable, meaning they can be changed at regular intervals to be shared within NATO forces.

This is the same for a captured IFF systems. They make work for initially, but once the codes are changed, then they become inoperable unless the correct new codes are inputted.

The Russian NATO standard IFF system uses a Cryptographic system made by Turkey which Russia does not have access to, and it doesn’t store codes or doesn’t have the ability to transmit the codes to a third party.
