The Republican President Donald Trump has been impeached by the United States (US) House of Representatives which is dominated by Politicians belonging to the Democratic Party. This means that a Trial will be held next month at the Senate to Convict and remove Trump from Office or not.
If Trump is removed from office, he will be succeeded by his fellow Republican Vice President Mike Pence. But remember that Trump is up for reelection next year, so even if the impeachment fails, it may still have a negative effect on his bid for reelection.
Trump and his conservative Republican Party has been more supportive on the Philippines side against China as compared to former Democratic President Barrack Obama whose Administration abandoned former Philippine President PNoy during his showdown with China at Panatag Shoal back in 2012.
Remember that the Democrats have also been very critical against President Duterte’s Administration so far, so if their Representative win the Presidency in 2020 then it will have a big impact on US-Philippines relations also.
