Helicopter Sikorsky crashes north of Los Angeles | Extreme Weather (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0pQfgi9ZqU)
A video showing the flight path of Kobe Bryant’s Helicopter during the time of the crash. It also includes audio recording between the Helicopter and Ground Control Personnel.
Nothing conclusive yet, but initial details seem to indicate that barring any Mechanical Problems with Kobe’s Helicopter, it might simply just flown into a Mountain or Hill due to the Heavy Fog. The fog was heavy enough that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) grounded all of its Helicopters.
Kobe’s helicopter, a Sikorsky S-76B, is a bit old but some articles said it was fitted like a Limousine. It does seem to have a Ground Proximity Warning System, but in this case it wasn’t enough.
Some advanced Military Helicopters do have better Sensors like Terrain Following or Profiling Radar and Thermal Imaging Systems that allow them to fly with better Situational Awareness during Adverse Weather Conditions like Heavy Fog, but as of now I am not sure if there are any Commercial Helicopters now with this capability.
