The Notice of Award (NoA) to the Spanish branch of the Norwegian company Nammo for the 30 mm ammunition of the Aselsan Smash Secondary Gun of the Jose Rizal class Frigates was released last November 2019.
Delivery is to be made within a year of the release of the Notice to Proceed (NtP). The Contract is worth Eur 1.9 million (Php 110 million) and is composed of 4,000 rounds of Target Practice Tracer (TPT) and 6,000 rounds of High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) ammunition.
So that’s 2,000 TPT and 3,000 HEI 30 mm ammunition for each of the two Jose Rizal class Frigates. The TPT ammunition are cheaper rounds for Target Practice while the HEI rounds are designed not only to explode but also start fires upon hitting the target.
