PN confirms acquisition of Shaldags for FAICs

The Philippine Navy (PN) confirmed the acquisition of Shaldag class Patrol Boats from Israel. The previous report I saw mentioning the Shaldags was by the Inquirer, and it was just mentioned in the report.

This time the report is coming from Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad himself. Among the other information mentioned before in other news items which I am enumerating now are as follows:
- Budget for eight vessels is Php 10 billion
- Four will be made in Israel while the remaining four will be made at the PN Cavite Shipyard in Sangley Point, Cavite City
- Only four of the eight though will be armed with “Non-Line of Sight missiles”, which is likely the Spike Non-Line of Sight (NLOS)
- These will be under the Fast Attack and Interdiction Craft (FAIC) Project. The news item says “Interdictor”, but I remember seeing a PN video using the word “Interdiction” instead

The Shaldags will replace the Patrol Killer Medium (PKM) Crafts of the PN, otherwise known as the Batillo class Vessels.
