F-16C Fighting Falcon aircraft of the United States Air Force (USAF) has been spotted in Pampanga. The USAF reportedly flew in 6 of the F-16Cs from Japan to take part in this year’s Bilateral Air Contingent Exchange – Philippines (BACE-P).
They seemed to be trying to put the exercise in a low profile this year, as evidenced by the deletion of the video I posted a couple of days ago of the C-17 that bought their Personnel and Equipment into the country.
Also last year (2019), they had posted the arrival of the F-16Cs on their Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS) as soon as the aircraft arrived, but not this year.
If you look at the Inquirer’s picture, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) FA-50PH Fighting Eagle aircraft has been fitted with an Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) on one of its wingtip launchers, indicating that they are doing some Air Combat Maneuver (ACM) training with the F-16Cs.
If the Duterte Administration does push thru with terminating the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA), then this could be the last time these F-16Cs do these Exercises with the PAF on Philippine soil.
The Duterte Administration is expected to send the formal, written notice of the VFA termination by today (Monday, February 10, 2020), but take note that the termination itself will take another 180 days or 6 months to take effect after the notice is given.
