A somewhat confusing article from One News of the effect of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) on the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), but let me try to summarize some of the important points:
* The article talked about the delay in the signing of the Contract for PJ-10 BrahMos Missiles of the Philippine Army (PA) in May 2020, but sources in India reported a week or so ago that the Contract is expected to be signed within this 3rd Quarter of 2020.

* The article did note down the cost of the PJ-10 missile Contract which supposedly is at Php 10 billion or Usd 200 million at the Exchange Rate of Usd 1 = Php 50.
* This report says that only 3 of the 6 A-29 Super Tucano Aircraft will be delivered this Year, but this is contrary to what the Department of National Defense (DND) said early this month that all 6 will be delivered at the end of this month or July 2020. I guess we will know soon which one is right.
* The article says that the Philippine Air Force (PAF) is getting 6 Hermes 900 Drones for Php 8 billion (Usd 160 million), but Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said during a Senate Hearing in September 2019 that 3 Hermes 450 and 9 Hermes 900 Drones are being acquired for Php 8 billion.

I think that the information in this article that came from anonymous sources and contradictory to previous news reports may not very accurate since there is no ownership of those information, meaning if it is wrong, you can’t name specifically who gave the wrong information.
