I just wanted to note down some of the Highlights of the 5th Fighter Wing of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) that they showed on their Audio Visual Presentation for their 73rd Founding Anniversary.
5th Fighter Wing Combat Missions and Ordnance Expended |
First is the fact that the 5th Fighter Wing had already dropped 116 227 kg Mk 82 Low Drag General Purpose (LDGP) Bombs in 60 Combat Missions, or an average of close to 2 per Mission.
5th Fighter Wing Maritime Patrol (MARPAT) Missions |
Next is that they have conducted 60 Maritime Patrol (MARPAT) Missions over the West Philippine Sea (WPS). A vast majority of those though or 90% were made by the AS-211 Warrior Aircraft, with the rest or 10% by the FA-50PH Fighting Eagle Aircraft.
5th Fighter Wing Training Missions |
They have also conducted 92 Trainings including the use of their new FA-50PH Flight Simulator as shown in the Picture.
5th Fighter Wing Operational Readiness (OR) Rate |
The Operational Readiness (OR) Rate of the FA-50PH is at only 64% while that of the AS-211 is at 91%. OR is defined as, "the capability to perform assigned Flight Missions".
I think the reason for the much higher OR Rate of the AS-211 is because first it is a much simpler Aircraft than the FA-50PH, and second is that there are much less AS-211 Aircraft that are around, only 3 is listed by the 2019 Flight International World's Air Forces Publication as active.
So at 64% OR Rate, around 7 FA-50PH Aircraft on average are mission ready. If there are only 3 AS-211 around, then good that at least all of them are Mission Ready.
5th Fighter Wing Facilities |
As for their Facilities, 10 are undergoing Repair, 1 is undergoing Renovation while 2 are under Construction.

The PAF need more fighter jets like a squadron of Gripen to make it capable for external defense ready.
