The News Publication MindaNews has more details of the problems encountered by the UH-1 Huey Helicopters of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) recently in Lanao Del Sur

Contrary to the Reports from other News Organizations, not just one but TWO Huey Helicopters had problems. The Incidents happened last November 26, 2020 (Thursday) and November 27, 2020 (Friday).

Both Helicopters were trying to do a Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) of Philippine Army (PA) Soldiers that were wounded in an encounter with Dawlah Islamiyah (DI) Animals.

The first Helicopter, a UH-1D Huey Helicopter, tried to take off on Nov. 26, 2020 but couldn’t get enough lift to get off the Ground. It ended up spending overnight where it landed.

The second Helicopter, a UH-1H Huey Model, ended up having to make a rough landing after trying to take off in bad Weather, wounding two of its Occupants in Nov. 27, 2020.

*******************

By my count, this now brings the number of UH-1 crashes/problems of the PAF to at least five in five Years from 2015, which averages to around one per Year.

It may be time to slowly retire these Aircraft, if not then there will be risks of more crashes or problems while they are in use.
