I rarely make Movie Reviews for this page, but I decided to do one now because I found this one to be quite exceptional. First of all this is not your typical Western War Movie, most if not all of the Actors and Actress seem to be Arab or at least of Arab descent.
It has more of an Arab perspective, and the Dialogue is available only in Arabic, so you will have to use Subtitles to watch it if you don’t speak that Language.
It is based on a true Story about the Nineveh Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team that because of their Skills and Training were able to effectively fight Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or ISIS (which they prefer to call as Daesh) in the second largest City in Iraq, Mosul.
The Production Values, Acting, Characterizations, Plot, Action Scenes, etc. are all very good, overall it is a truly outstanding Action Thriller. Some of the things shown on the Scenes like the Mouseholes (holes punched thru Walls to serve as Observation and Firing Ports) reminded me of the 2017 Battle of Marawi.
There are some interesting Stuff also like Quadracopter Drones carrying Explosives being used as Guided Missiles, and the involvement of Iranian Special Forces Personnel in the War.
In the Movie, the Team goes on a Mission whose nature was not revealed until the end of the Film, and which turns out to be another grim reminder of the horrors of the ISIS occupation of Iraq, of which various examples they also show all throughout the Movie.
The Arms and Equipment used are combination of Russian and Western origin, for example they almost exclusively used AK type Assault Rifles, it’s the type of Movie that will make you want an AK. But at the same time they also used Glock Pistols and Humvees.
This is the best War Movie I have seen this Year, and is a Must See for me for Military enthusiasts out there.
