The Philippine News Agency (PNA) came up with a Yearender Report for 2020 on the Modernization of the Philippine Navy (PN), and among the most interesting items I found in the Report are as follows:
* 7 out of 10 High Speed Boats were delivered to the Naval Special Operations Command (NAVSOCOM) in August 2020. These are now undergoing Sea Trials and Technical Inspections.
* The Government was able to negotiate for 1 additional Fast Attack Interdiction Craft (FAIC), bringing the total number for acquisition to 9 (from the previous 8).
* They were also able to include in the Package for the FAICs an upgrade of the PN Shipyard. Deliveries of the Crafts will start in 2022.
* The donation of ScanEagle Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) by the United States (US) included the Training of 10 Pilots, 6 Maintainers, 4 Image and Video Data Processors.
