Another Fierce Duterte Critic Patrick Leahy is now US Senate President

As if things couldn’t get more "interesting" … yesterday I posted about how fierce Duterte Critic Richard “Dick” Durbin got the position of Majority Whip, the third highest Position in the United States (US) Senate. 

Well it turns out that another fierce Critic of President Rodrigo Duterte, Patrick Leahy, now sits on the very top Position of the US Senate as Senate President. Of course they prefer to use the term “President Pro Tempore of the US Senate” there. 

‘Human Rights against Duterte’

Leahy worked closely with Dick in their attacks last Year (2020) against Duterte, in fact they were like “Batman and Robin” in that both were involved in most if not all of the Democrap’s attacks on Digong. Among these were: 

- Public call on Duterte’s Government to drop all Charges against Journalist Maria Ressa, the News Publication Rappler and other Journalists in the Philippines which they said were “Politically Motivated” in June 2020

- Letter pressuring the then US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to take action against Duterte on the issue of “Human Rights” involving Ressa, Senator Leila De Lima and the Anti-Terror Law (ATL) among other things.

And like Dick, Leahy was also banned in the Philippines by Digong back in December 2019 for Sponsoring a Provision in the US’ 2020 Budget that imposed Sanctions on the Jailers of De Lima. That ban still stands up to now as far as I know. 

‘Hints’

With Dick as Majority Whip and Leahy as Senate President, I think we can already take a big hint of where all of this will be going in terms of the relations between the US and the Duterte Government from hereon. 

Of course there is still a chance that both Dick and Leahy will have a change of Heart and go soft on the Duterte Government on their perceived issue of “Human Rights”, but in case that doesn’t happen then Digong and his Government should prepare now for “Interesting Times” in terms of relations with the US.
