A Coalition of Filipino-American (Fil-Am) Human Rights (HR) Advocates are trying to persuade the United States (US) Congress to pass the “Philippine Human Rights Act HR 8313” which was first introduced last Year (2020).
The proposed Law seeks to block all Equipment and Training assistance to the Philippine Military and Police due to supposed HR issues by the Duterte Government. You can read more about the Bill on my Post about it last September 2020.
The Fil-Am Coalition is hoping that the one of the Bill’s Co-Sponsors, Democratic Party Congresswoman Susan Wild will reintroduce the Bill soon.
‘My Notes’
It looks like US President Joe Biden is now being pressured by Members of his very own Democratic Party to act on the Duterte Government over the issue of HR, goaded on by this Fil-Am Coalition.
It will be interesting to see how Biden will react to this, will he give in, or will he just ignore it?
