MDT should’ve been reviewed BEFORE the termination of the VFA was stopped

I wonder why Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana would say something like this now, what is his objective in revealing this? Is it to say that he listens to China’s advice? I don’t think so, because everybody knows he is an “American Boy” or “Amboy”. 

So I think he is trying to put the blame on China why the Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) was not renewed, which is absolutely funny, because it is obvious that the MDT should’ve been reviewed BEFORE the terminiation of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) was stopped. 

This is so we could have LEVERAGE against the United States (US) during negotiations. The problem though is that it also means that if the US will not give in to our demands, then we will have to scrap the VFA altogether, and I think the Amboys like Lorenzana did not want that to happen. 

‘Amboy’

Let’s face it, Lorenzana is an Amboy. He has deep connections to the US for a VERY long time. According to his Biography, he was Defense Attache to the US for 2 Years, from 2002 to 2004. 

And then he was a Philippine Representative to the US from 2004 to 2015, or 11 Years. So in total, he was in the US for 13 Years, imagine that. 

Now why would President Rodrigo Duterte appoint an obvious Amboy like him as Defense Secretary? I suspect it is to appease the Pro-American Factions within his own Camp itself, who obviously would’ve been maneuvering to put him in such a critical Position. 

‘US Mercy’

Without any leverage like the VFA, then we will now just have to rely on the US’ GOOD WILL to give in to our demands. They have all the Cards right now, if we demand something, they can always say “No”, insisting that we need them more than they need us. 

We will have hope that they grow a CONSCIENCE, or PITY us. Growing a Conscience like, “Oh, we need to treat the Philippines better”. Or pity us, like, “Well, let’s give the Philippines a break, they look pitiful already”. 

Or maybe they want to make their “Good Friend” Lorenzana look good, like, “Let’s do something that our Boy Lorenzana will be credited for”. 

‘Parting Shot’

At any rate, using the VFA as leverage against the US was a lost opportunity, just because there are too many Pro-US People within the Duterte Government itself who did not want to see it removed if the US didn’t give in to our demands. Digong can only do so much on his own, he still needed to go sometimes with his Pro-US Allies.
