Fraternities should be banned from Schools, one Cause for Division in Philippine Society

I agree with Mer Layson, the President of the Adamson University Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) that Fraternities should be banned from all Philippine Schools not only because of these Deaths from Fraternity Hazings recently, but also because they are one Cause of the excessive Divisions we are seeing in Philippine Society. 

I never joined any of those Groups because the Idea of belonging to a Group to fight other Groups, or be indebted to a Group to gain Advantage never really appealed much to me, I’m more of an Individualistic type of Person. Also when I was in College, based on the Examples I saw at the School I went to in Manila, they were more like going out and beating up People, either non-Fraternity Individuals or those on other Fraternities. 

I soon realized that these Frats are more than that, they are likely also just Understudies or Training Grounds for Syndicates or Organized Crime for later on in Life. They seem to also specialize more on spreading Intrigue and Malice thru Rumors, and defending against those from other Groups. 

They seem engage in Power Brokering or Social Influencing where the Leaders could be getting paid off by rich Interest Groups while the Members gain Connections, get boosts or hypes from their own Groups and protection from other Groups which can be useful in the Private and Government Corporate and Business Worlds.

Unfortunately though for our Country, for me it is also the Reason why the Philippines get constantly left behind our Neighbors as I think it is one of the main Causes as to why Filipinos generally don’t really have a National Identity, because our Society end up as not thinking it is “Us as a Country against Others” but “My Group against Other Groups”. 

So it is Filipino Groups fighting against other Filipino Groups, constantly trying to gain advantage, constantly intriguing against each other. This is useful for Colonizers like the United States (US) who want Filipinos distracted and can use these Groups be made to follow whatever Pollitical or Social Leanings these Organizations demands from their Members.

And not only that, they could also useful for POLICING other Filipinos into following a certain type of Thought, like, say, being Pro-US, for example. It is about high time for these Organizations to be removed from all Schools in the Philippines, and for stiff Penalties to be instituted for those caught joining them. 

We need to think as one Country, not one Filipino Group fighting another Filipino Group for advantage. This is what I think Ills Philippine Society at the moment and why we are always behind, never prospering as much as our Neighbors.
