Boeing to make big Investment in Vietnam instead of Philippines, Zubiri’s declaration False so far

The Nation: Boeing Executive says committed to building Aviation Ecosystem in Vietnam; Manila Standard: Zubiri: US pushing Defense Firms to build PH Factories

The United States (US) Aviation and Defense Company “Boeing” announced recently that they are set to make a huge Investment in COMMUNIST Vietnam instead of the Country which is supposed to be an “Ally” of their Country, the Philippines. 

No amount of the said Investment has been made so far, but I personally assume it will be considerable because of the amount of Work they intend to make in Terms of building that “Aviation Ecosystem", which includes Training Centers, Airports and Maintenance and Repair Establishments. 

‘US Defense Companies’

Meanwhile, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri said last July of this Year of 2023 during his Trip to the US that the Government there was trying to convince their Defense Companies to invest in the Philippines. However, five Months later there are still no such News of any such Company investing in the Philippines. 

Instead, we have this News of a US Defense Company like Boeing investing in Vietnam. Note that Boeing is one of the MAJOR Defense Companies in the US, making such iconic Military Aircraft like the F-15 Eagle Fighter Aircraft, B-1 Lancer Bomber Aircraft, F/A-18 Super Hornet Aircraft, etc. 

‘Parting Shot’

Of course this Investment by Boeing in Vietnam doesn’t look like it is going to be related to “Defense”, more like to their Commerical Aviation Business. But still, the Philippines could’ve really used that Investment also, and add in the Fact that they have not properly compensated us yet for the many, many Military Bases that were given to them. 

Anyway, I am willing to give Zubiri and the US the Benefit of the Doubt, there are still five Years left in Bobong Bong’s Administration, let’s see if ANY US Defense Companies will, indeed, invest here in the Philippines …
