No less than the Prime Minister of Malaysia himself, Anwar Ibrahim announced to the Press recently that his Country was able to secure Myr 63.02 billion in Investment Pledges from the United States (US) recently. That's around Usd 13.46 billion assuming an Exchange Rate of Myr 4.68 per Dollar.

These Pledges were from Trade and Investment Missions to the US that were organized before the start of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum and one-on-one Meetings with Anwar himself at the Forum.

The Pledges obtained from the Trade Missions are from Abbott Laboratories, Mondelez International, Amsted Rail, Hematogenix, PerkinElmer, Ford Motor Company, Boeing, Amazon Web Services, Enovix and Lam Research.

On the other hand, those secured by Anwar’s one-on-one Meetings are from Google, Enovix Cooperation, Microsoft, TikTok and TPG Incorporated

‘BBM Pledges’
Meanwhile, Bobong Bong Marcos (BBM) could announce an Investment Pledge of only Usd 672 million after the same APEC Meeting, it didn’t even reach a billion Dollars. These Pledges are broken down to as follows:
* Usd 400 million for the Telecommunications Sector
* Usd 250 million for Semiconductor and Electronics
* Usd 20 million in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare
* Usd 2 million for Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Weather Forecasting
* Usd 300k in Renewable Energy

I know that all of these "Pledges" to both Malaysia and the Philippines may not necessarily mean they will materialize, but still, why are US Companies “Pledging” a lot more to a CLOSE Ally of China that is Malaysia than the supposed “Ally” of the US that is the Philippines?

If being a US Ally doesn’t mean we will get preferential Treatment from them in Terms of our Economy, then what’s the use of being one, then? We are still very much a Third World Country, always being left behind by our Neighbors even just in South East Asia (SEA)

Our Economy and uplifting the Lives of our People should be our NUMBER ONE Priority, and nothing else.

‘Parting Shot’
As one Follower of my Page said, “Act like a Doormat and you will be treated like one”, which best describes BBM’s Foreign Policy towards the US right now.
