This would’ve been funny if it weren’t so Tragic and in Real Life, but former Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teddyboy Locsin Junior and current United States (US) Ambassador to the Philippines (yes, I intentionally did that, that is how he functions anyway) Babes Romualdez both admitted to the Special Report of the International News Organization Reuters their Role in blocking China from Subic Bay and then giving it over to the US.

Quoting from the Report: “Senior Government Officials in 2019 killed efforts by Chinese Companies to take over a Shipyard in Subic Bay, a former U.S. Naval Base in the Philippines that closed in 1992 after Manila terminated a Bases Agreement with Washington.

Two Chinese Firms expressed interest, the Government said at the time without naming the Companies. Teodoro “Teddy” Locsin Jr, then-Foreign Minister of the Philippines, told Reuters he concluded the United States would consider such a sale to be “an Act of Hostility,” given the Strategic Value of the Site. The Deepwater Port is in close Proximity to both the Bashi Channel facing Taiwan and the South China Sea. Reuters was unable to determine the name of the Chinese Companies.

Jose Manuel “Babe” Romualdez, the Philippine Ambassador to the United States, said he hustled to find an American Buyer instead. In 2022, Cerberus Capital Management, a New York-based Private Equity Firm that has invested in Defense Contractors and National Security Assets, paid $300 million for the Shipyard.

‘PN paying Cerberus’
The Tragedy here is how as I have reported before, the US Company Cerberus Capital Management LP went on and CHARGED the Philippine Navy (PN) a BILLION Philippine Pesos PER YEAR to use the Philippines’ own Lands there at Subic.

Quoting an Article by the Inquirer.net back in May 2022: “It [meaning the PN] will occupy 100 hectares of the Northern Portion of the 300-hectare Shipyard, now called Agila Subic, for a Lease of around P1 billion a Year.

Imagine that, a Billion Pesos per Year. In twenty Years, that’s already Php 20 billion that the PN could’ve used for it is own Modernization Program, but instead is being paid TO a US Company to STAY on Land that is owned by the Philippines. Absolutely Crazy.

My guess is that Cerberus probably thought that since the Philippines (thru Romualdez) approached them and not the other way around, then the Philippines “needed” them more than they needed Subic, hence that st*p*d Arrangement.

If the US Government had any sort of “Conscience” or real fondness for Filipinos, they would’ve absorbed that Billion Pesos per Year but NO, they didn’t even try. They probably see the Philippines as nothing but PETS that are good only for exploitation.

‘Parting Shot’
As the Saying goes for the Philippines, “Act like a Doormat and you will be treated like one”. I never liked Teddyboy Locsin, he is obviously a Kisser of US A**es who somehow just got lucky of being appointed by Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (FPRRD) as DFA Secretary.
