October 28, 2024: Indonesia banned the new iPhone 16 due to not enough Indonesian-made Parts in it
Indonesia has banned the new iPhone 16 Smartphone which is made by the United States (US) Company “Apple Incorporated” because it doesn't meet their required percentage of Parts that are made locally in their Country. Indonesia requires certain Smartphones to contain at least 40% made in Indonesia and the iPhone 16 doesn't meet that.
Currently the top Smartphone Brand in Indonesia is "Oppo" which is made in the Dongguan Province of China. Indonesians can still buy the iPhone 16 by directly importing it from other Countries, but will have to pay additional Importation and other Taxes for them on top of the already expensive Price of the iPhone 16.
