OUR SEA NEIGHBORS: Indonesia, 2024

December 28, 2024: China’s Invasion Ship makes a Stopover in Indonesia
China's new Type 075 Amphibious Assault Ship, the Hainan (031) recently made History when it made its first ever Stop outside of China in the Port of Tanjung Priok in Indonesia. It was accompanied by two Type 054A Frigates as Escorts, the Liuzhou (573) and the Hengyang (568)

The Fleet will stay in Indonesia for four Days where its Crew will participate in various Cultural, Sports and Social Exchanges with the Indonesians. The Type 075 is probably one of the main Chinese Naval Vessels that the rabidly Pro-United States (US) and Anti-China Philippines will not allow to visit it because it is the Ship that will be at the forefront of any Naval Invasion of an Island in the South China Sea (SCS)

Its Mission is to transport Troops, Vehicles and Aircraft of an Invasion Force into a Target Location. It is a pretty large Ship, with a Displacement of at least 35,000 tons and a Length of 232 m. It can carry up to 800 Troops, 60 Vehicles and 28 Helicopters, and is armed with two H/PJ-14 30 mm caliber Close In Weapons System (CIWS) and two HQ-10 Surface to Air Missile (SAM) Launchers.

Remember that Indonesia also has Territorial Disputes with China in the SCS, but unlike the Philippines, Indonesia refuses to be goaded by the US into demonizing China and in fact Indonesia is now a very close Ally of China despite their Differences.

December 21, 2024: Indonesia receives Usd 7.4 billion worth of Investments from China
The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming who is also the Head of the Investment Coordination Agency (BKPM) of Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani announced that his Country had just received new Investment Commitments worth Usd 7.4 billion from China.

He said that the Commitments are in four different Production Fields, which are:
- Polysilicon, the Core Material used in Semiconductors;
- Fiberglass;
- Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), used to make Textile Fibers, Plastic Storage, etc.;
- and Electric Vehicles (EV)

The Minister also said that the Chinese Investments in Indonesia reached Usd 7.4 billion just for the Year 2023 alone, and from 2019 to 2024, it was a total of Usd 32.2 billion.

Just remember that Indonesia, like the Philippines, also has Territorial Disputes with China. But unlike the Philippines, Indonesia has refused to be goaded by the United States (US) into antagonizing China.

Meanwhile can the Philippines boast of similar Investments from the US after being a subservient Dog to them? No, the US instead just gets to park their Tomahawk Missiles that can reach China here on our Soil, basically for FREE.

What have the US given us in exchange for that? A bunch of second-hand, well-used Patrol Boats? A bunch of brand new but tiny Naval Drones? They’re not even giving us our own Tomahawk Missiles, we have to PAY for them despite all of the Things we’ve given them already.

Meanwhile, not just Chinese, but American Companies are also investing in Indonesia instead of the US’ Dog, the Philippines ... LOL. 'Hay, naku, Pilipinas ...'

December 20, 2024: Indonesian Durian soon to be exported to China directly means more Competition for Philippine Durian Products
More Bad News for the Philippines' Agricultural Exports are Indonesia and China are now reportedly preparing for the direct Export of Indonesian Durian Fruits to China. Currently, Durian from Indonesia are being shipped to China thru Thailand, which cuts down on the Profits of the Indonesian Farmers.

Naturally, direct Shipments will mean better Profits for those same Farmers, and it would be easier for them ship even more such Products. This means more competition for the Philippines' Durian, which may be slowly being eased out of the Chinese Market, just like the Case of Philippine Bananas and Mangoes

Again, no Problem if the United States (US) and other Western Markets are able to absorb this loss of Market from China, but they aren't, so what are they doing constantly whispering in our Ears against China, then?

December 10, 2024: Apple forced to invest Usd 1 billion in Indonesia after iPhone 16 ban there
Indonesia was finally able to force the United States (US) Company, Apple Incorporated to invest a significant amount of Money into them after banning the iPhone 16, this after Apple Inc. announced that they will be investing Usd 1 billion into the Country.

Indonesia banned the iPhone 16 since it did not meet their 40% Local Content requirement for Smartphones. Apple initially offered around Usd 100 million investment, but Indonesia rejected it. Now Apple is saying that they will put up a full-scale Manufacturing Plant in Indonesia to produce essential Components.

Good for Indonesia that them playing “Hard Ball” with a US Company has borne Fruit for them. Meanwhile, the endless subservience of the Philippines to the US has gained it very little benefit in Terms of Investments, US Companies are still investing way more in other South East Asian (SEA) Countries than in the Philippines ...

November 26, 2024: Indonesia continues to block iPhone 16 Sales despite Usd 100 million offer from Apple
Indonesia continues to reject the sale of the iPhone 16 in their Country despite the iPhone's Manufacturer, the United States (US) Company "Apple Incorporated" offering to invest Usd 100 million in Indonesia as it will still not meet their requirement that 40% of a Smartphone must be made there.

The Minister of Industry of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita also said that Usd 100 million is very little compared to what Apple Inc. invested in other Countries in South East Asia (SEA), pointing that Apple invested Usd 15 billion in Manufacturing Facilities in Vietnam while selling only 1.5 million iPhone Units there compared to the sales of 2.5 million iPhone Units in Indonesia before the ban.

And this is why Indonesia is a Regional Power in SEA, and why they have a so much better Economy than ours. They are always thinking of what is best for Indonesia. Meanwhile in the Philippines, we are just blindly and gladly accepting the Sale of iPhones here without any Conditions whatsoever, continuing to be just a willing and proud Dog of the US ... arf, arf ...

November 2, 2024: Indonesia bans another US Smartphone Brand, Google’s “Pixel”
After banning the iPhone 16, Indonesia has again banned another Smartphone Brand made by another United States (US) Company, this time it is the "Pixel" Brand made by Google LLC. The Ban was made due to its lack of local Content which Indonesia required to be at 40%.

Indonesians can still buy the Pixel and iPhone 16 from abroad, but will have to pay Importation and additional Taxes. They are also forbidden to resell the Phones inside Indonesia. Unregistered or smuggled Phones will be disabled by Indonesia's Smartphone Service Providers.

Last Year of 2023, neither the US-made iPhone nor the Pixel Brand made it to the Top 5 in Smartphone sales in Indonesia, while the Chinese Brand “Oppo” was Number one in the List.

This move by the new Government of Prabowo Subianto no doubt frustrates the US and the Filipinos who worship them and who were hoping that Subianto will move away from China and move closer to the US.

October 28, 2024: Indonesia banned the new iPhone 16 due to not enough Indonesian-made Parts in it
Indonesia has banned the new iPhone 16 Smartphone which is made by the United States (US) Company “Apple Incorporated” because it doesn't meet their required percentage of Parts that are made locally in their Country. Indonesia requires certain Smartphones to contain at least 40% made in Indonesia and the iPhone 16 doesn't meet that.

Currently the top Smartphone Brand in Indonesia is "Oppo" which is made in the Dongguan Province of China. Indonesians can still buy the iPhone 16 by directly importing it from other Countries, but will have to pay additional Importation and other Taxes for them on top of the already expensive Price of the iPhone 16.

October 25, 2024: Indonesian Foreign Minister says Indonesia will join BRICS
No less than the Foreign Minister of Indonesia, Sugiono, said recently that his Country wants to join the Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) Group of Nations Organization, and that they have already started the Process for applying for it.

Two other South East Asian (SEA) Countries, Thailand and Malaysia have already officially submitted their Applications earlier this Year of 2024. Indonesia will be the third SEA Country to join BRICS, and more are expected to follow, except for the Philippines which is about the only Pro-United States (US) Country in SEA.

October 17, 2024: China’s CATL partnering with an Indonesian Company to build a Usd 1.2 billion Battery Plant in Indonesia
The Chinese Company "Contemporary Amperex Technology Company Limited" (CATL Co. Ltd.)” is partnering with the Indonesian Government owned Company "Indonesia Battery Corporation" to invest in a Battery Manufacturing Plant in Indonesia worth Usd 1.2 billion.

The Project which will be located in West Java will be able to eventually produce up to 15 gigawatts of Batteries per Year. The Plant is an important Part of Indonesia's Goal of building a complete Supply Chain for Electric Vehicles (EV), meaning they will be able to produce on their own almost everything that is related to EVs, from Batteries to the Vehicles themselves.

Congressman Johnny Pimentel of Surigao Del Sur is urging the Philippine Government to accept Indonesia's offer to sell Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Aircraft to the Philippines in a Statement he released to the Press recently.

Quoting Congressman Pimentel: "Offhand, the Philippine Navy could use the Aircraft to defend against possible Submarine attacks. In the future, we are counting on Submarine patrol operations to effectively deter such external Threats".

The Indonesian President Joko Widodo recently pushed for the CN235 MPA Aircraft that they are license-building during his Official State Visit to the Philippines last Month of January 2024.
