CIWS for the BRP Jose Rizal Frigate arriving soon

The Offshore Combat Force (OCF) of the Philippine Navy (PN) during their interview with the DWDD 1134 kHz AM Katropa Radio last June 24, 2020 said that the Close In Weapons System (CIWS) of the BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) Frigate “will be arriving soon”.

No mention though on other details like exactly how soon it will come, what model the CIWS will be, where it will come from, etc. You can listen to the actual interview, go to the 44:12 (or -10:53) mark to hear what they said about the CIWS.

Busway Infrastructure being completed in EDSA

The Busway or a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System is coming to the Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA). The outermost lane will be dedicated for Buses only and will be separated by Concrete Barriers.

The existing Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) 3 Stations will be utilized as Bus Stops as well as other dedicated stations for the Busway.

The only sort of fly in the Ointment here is that Passengers will have to enter or leave on most of the existing Buses on the right side, opposite to the Busway entrances, but since the Busway itself is separated by barriers then it won’t be as hazardous to the Passengers.

The Government is planning to mandate Buses that will use this system to have an alternate door also on the left side.

M60 Machine Gun Pod and other Self Reliance Projects of the 15th Strike Wing

The 15th Strike Wing of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) featured an M60 Machine Gun Pod for use on their SF-260TP Warrior Combat aircraft as one of their Self Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP) Program on their 2018 Anniversary Edition of their “The Trojan’s Voice” publication.

The M60 Machine Gun fires the 7.62 x 51 mm ammunition at around 10 rounds per second (rps), and the SF-260TP carries 2 of these at a time for a combined rate of fire of 20 rps. It wasn’t noted though how many rounds the pod can carry.

Other SRDP Projects listed were:

* A Trigger Guard for the Weapons Release Trigger on the Joystick of the SF-260TP to prevent its accidental activation;

* A Mobile Stand to allow easier and safer Installation or Removal of the Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) Ball on the AW-109AH Nighthawk Helicopters;

* A Cockpit Mockup for the OV-10 Bronco to allow Student Pilots to familiarize and memorize the layout of its Cockpit without necessarily sitting on the Cockpit itself.

The Combat Aircraft of the 15th Strike Wing – July 1, 2020

Here are some nice pictures of the Combat Aircraft of the 15th Strike Wing of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) taken from their official Website at 15th Strike Wing.

You can head on down to that website to see more pictures and publications of the Air Wing. Interesting that they gave the AW-109AH the nickname “Nighthawk” in the Website.

Also, I noticed that the SF-260TP is named as the “Warrior”, but the AS-211 also uses the same name, so the PAF have two aircraft named the “Warrior”. The PAF units may want to change the name of either or even both aircraft to avoid redundancy and confusion.

A video of the Shaldag Mk V from its manufacturer Israel Shipyards which the Philippine Navy (PN) is eyeing to be its Fast Attack and Interdiction Craft (FAIC-M).

Shaldag Mk V by Israel Shipyards

In this video it is armed with what looks like the Spike ER missile like the ones used on the Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC) Mk III, but as per the previous News Reports, it looks like they want it to be replaced with the Spike NLOS.
