DND plans to spend Php 58 billion for the AFP Modernization in 2021

The Department of National Defense (DND) is planning to spend Php 58 billion in 2021 for the Modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Other details of the Budget allocation for the AFP Modernization in 2021 are as follows: 

* The Php 8 billion reallocated this Year (2020) from the AFP Modernization Budget to fight the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic has been returned

* The annual Php 25 billion allocation for the AFP Modernization Budget will be there in 2021

* An additional Php 5 billion will be added under the “Unprogrammed Funds”

* Php 2 billion from the General Appropriations Bill would be added for the downpayment of two Heavy Lift Transport Aircraft

* And additional Php 18.37 billion would be added from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) as the AFP’s share in the sale of Military Base Lands

Among the Items mentioned to be spent for the AFP Modernization in 2021 are: 

- Construction of Forward Operating and Maintenance Bases for the Multi-Purpose Assault Crafts (MPAC) of the Philippine Navy (PN)

- Php 800 million for the Philippine Air Force (PAF) for Firepower Procurement
