The Israeli Company Elbit Systems Ltd recently announced that were awarded a Contract worth Usd 172 million to provide Sabrah Light Tanks to the Army of an unnamed Country in the Asia-Pacific.
Even if Elbit did not name the Country, the Department of National Defense (DND) did release a Notice of Award (NOA) to them for Light Tanks in September 2020 with the same Contract Price, so that announcement is for the Philippines, for the Philippine Army (PA).
I don’t know why Elbit insists on not naming Countries they sell to in their announcements, even if sometimes it is already very obvious based on other News Reports.
Anyway, the DND’s NOA did not mention the Light Tank Models that were to be provided, but this Press Release did, and also mentioned that the Contract will be performed over a period of 3 Years.
As per their 2019 Brochure, the Sabrah is available in both Tracked and Wheeled configuration, with the Tracked Version based on the ASCOD and the Wheeled Version based on the Pandur II 8 x 8 Vehicle.
