The C-130 Aircraft that crashed in Sulu recently |
Makes me wonder what is happening with the Philippine Air Force’s (PAF) Aircraft, suffering 4 crashes in just 7 Months of this Year (2021) from January to July.
The first 3 crashes were Helicopters, namely a UH-1 Huey, an MD520MG and a brand new S-70i Black Hawk Helicopter.
And of course the latest one is a Fixed Wing C-130 Hercules Transport Aircraft. The summary of the crashes are as follows:
* April 2021: MD-520MG Helicopter crashed in Bohol, 1 dead
* June 2021: S-70i Helicopter crashed in Pampanga, 6 dead
* July 2021: C-130 Aircraft crashed in Sulu, 50 dead
* Total dead: 64
These crashes seem to have now killed more Personnel of ther Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the last Year or so than the Terrorists and Bandits.
The UH-1 and MD-520MG were in service with the PAF for some time now, but the S-70i was delivered brand new in November 2020 while the refurbished C-130 was delivered in January 2021.
The brand new S-70i costs around Usd 15 million (or Php 792 million at the Exchange Rate of Usd 1 = Php 52.79). The refurbished C-130 on the other hand cost Usd 25 million (Php 1.25 billion) assuming a Usd-Php Exchange Rate of Usd 1 = Php 50.
