Philippines lost MANY Territories DESPITE having a Defense Treaty with the US

Harry Roque is CORRECT, the Philippines’ Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) with the United States (US) is 'Inutile', for me it’s because they continue to refuse to recognize ANY of the Philippines’ Claimed Territories like Sabah, the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) and Itu Aba. 

They will only come to our Aid if Philippine Forces are attacked, but such Forces can be asked to STAY AWAY from Areas so the Enemies will have nothing and nobody to attack, just like they did in 2012 in Panatag Shoal. 

Besides, will the Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP) really be willing to SACRIFICE its very own Soldiers and Equipment to be attacked, just to trigger the MDT? If so, then ‘UNAHIN yung mga nagpapaka Aso sa Amerika diyan' (throw first those who are willing Dogs of the Americans). 

And what does “Aiding the Philippines” means, will the US just go there to STOP any War, and then nothing? 

Also note that DESPITE having an existing Defense Treaty with the US for Decades, we lost Itu Aba to Taiwan in the 1950s, the US sided with Malaysia over Sabah in the late 1960s, then we lost Pugad Island to Vietnam in 1970s, we lost to China the Mischief Reef in the 1990s and the Panatag Shoal in 2010s. That MDT is clearly and utterly, U-S-E-L-E-S-S.
