It’s a GO now for the Shaldag V Crafts for the Philippine Navy’s (PN) Fast Attack Interdiction Craft – Missile (FAIC-M) Project as the PN announced that the Notice to Proceed (NTP) was signed by the Department of National Defense (DND) late last Month (April 2021).
However, the PN did correct the News Report that came out early this Month (May 2021) which said that the Contract for the Boats with Israel Shipyards was signed in January 2021. The Contract was instead signed in February 2021.
The first three FAIC-Ms will be delivered on the First Quarter of 2022. This narrowed down further the Delivery Date as previous News Reports only mentioned “2022” as the delivery date of the first 3 Vessels.
A total of eight Shaldag V Vessels were bought, with Israel Shipyards adding one for free to the Philippine Government for a total of nine Vessels.
Four of the Boats will be armed with Spike NLOS Missiles while the rest will be armed with Cannons on Remote Weapons Systems (RWS) mount.
