Here is an interesting Map made by ABC Australia back in 2014 showing how, as the Regions in Ukraine gets nearer to the Border with Russia, the more Russian Speakers there are and the more sympathetic they seem to be to Russia.
And vice versa, the further away the Region is from the Russian Border, the less Russian Speakers and less sympathetic it seems they are to Russia.
Russia will not tolerate a Pro-Western Country within its Borders as much as possible, in the same way that the United States (US) will not tolerate a Pro-Russia/China Country in its Borders also. Just see what the US will do if Canada or Mexico becomes Pro-Russia/China.
This is the reason why Vladimir Putin is making a move towards taking control of Ukraine, which has become Pro-West thanks to the efforts of the US who actively funded the Pro-US, Anti-Russia Opposition and Press in Ukraine.
However, instead of invading it, Putin instead went out to recognize the Independence of two Pro-Russia Regions in Ukraine just today and is moving in Troops there.
This is an absolutely brilliant Chess Move by Putin IMHO, it seems that the Buildup of Russian Troops along its Border was just to take attention away from his true intention of having Pro-Russian Regions in Ukraine establish their Independence and accept the help of Russia.
Frankly I didn’t see this one coming, and it seems neither did the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The next move now is on NATO, what will they do?
