Description of the PAF's "Spotter-Shooter" Tactic on their Effective Practices Vol. 1 |
One of the Items mentioned in the “Effective Practices Volume 1” Publication that the Philippine Air Force (PAF) recently released was their adoption of a “Spotter-Shooter” Tactic at least as early as the 2017 Battle of Marawi for their Aircraft to reduce the risks during Night Close Air Support (CAS) Missions.
The Concept is fairly simple, two Aircraft work together as a Team where one acts as “Spotter” to look for the Enemy and relay its location to the “Shooter” who attacks it using its Weapons. The Spotter flies at a higher altitude and orbits a bigger Radius than the Shooter.
