Shaldag V Crafts for the Philippine Navy: It’s a Go!!

A Shaldag Mk V Vessel, Photo from Wikimedia Commons

It’s a GO now for the Shaldag V Crafts for the Philippine Navy’s (PN) Fast Attack Interdiction Craft – Missile (FAIC-M) Project as the PN announced that the Notice to Proceed (NTP) was signed by the Department of National Defense (DND) late last Month (April 2021).

However, the PN did correct the News Report that came out early this Month (May 2021) which said that the Contract for the Boats with Israel Shipyards was signed in January 2021. The Contract was instead signed in February 2021.

Here is a very nice Feature Video on the BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), the second Jose Rizal class Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN) by the Department of National Defense (DND). And it is in High Definition (HD) or 720p resolution so we can see clearly the features of the Ship.

The Liuzhou (573) Type 054A Frigate and Suqian (504) Type 056 Corvette of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) conducted a Joint Naval Exercise with the KRI Usman Harun Frigate (359) Bung Tomo class Frigate and KRI Halasan (630) Sampari class Missile Craft of the Indonesian Navy (IN) in the waters near the Indonesian Capital of Jakarta

Imagine if the President Rodrigo Duterte did something similar like ask the Jose Rizal class Frigates of the Philippine Navy (PN) to conduct Naval Exercises with Frigates of the PLAN in Manila Bay?

The Department of National Defense (DND) recently released some Photos of the FA-50PH Fighting Eagle Aircraft of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) heavily armed with American made and/or designed Weapons (see the Pictures above and below).

On the outer Wingtip Rails were likely AIM-9L Sidewinder Air to Air Missiles. On the outer Pylons under the Wings are Paveway Guided Bombs, and on the inner Pylons under the Wings were the AGM-65 Maverick Air to Surface Missiles.

There was NO ARBITRATION in the 2016 Ruling by the PCA

Screenshot of the Inquirer's Infographic on Duterte's remarks on the 2016 PCA Ruling
Screenshot of the Inquirer's Infographic on Duterte's remarks on the 2016 PCA Ruling

I agree with President Rodrigo Duterte, the Ruling in 2016 of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) which the Dilawan Filipino Dogs of the Americans keep talking about is nothing but just absolute Trash due to a number of reasons, first and foremost is that there was NO ARBITRATION that happened in the first place.

‘Arbitration’
A simple search in Google of the meaning of the Word “Arbitration” will get something like this most of the time, if not all the time:

Arbitration is a procedure in which a dispute is submitted, BY AGREEMENT OF THE PARTIES, to one or more arbitrators who make a binding decision on the dispute” from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

And here’s another one, this time from the American Bar Association (ABA)

Arbitration is a private process where DISPUTING PARTIES AGREE that one or several individuals can make a decision about the dispute after receiving evidence and hearing arguments”.

So as we can see above, Arbitration only applies if BOTH SIDES VOLUNTARILY AGREE to be arbitrated. If one side does NOT agree to be arbitrated, then THERE IS NO ARBITRATION.

In case of the 2016 PCA Ruling, China denied being part of the Arbitration, they said so themselves and did not officially participate in the Proceedings.

Arbitration is always VOLUNTARY, it is never COERCIVE. If it is coercive like the 2016 PCA Ruling, then it is not an Arbitration.

‘Money’
So why would the PCA accept the Philippines’ request for “Arbitration” while all the while knowing that the other side of the arbitration does not agree to it? Probably because of Money, by handling the Case they can charge the Philippines for their Services.

I can’t find a full Accounting of the Money spent by the Philippines for the Arbitration, but the PCA can charge at least a THOUSAND or so of Euros PER HOUR for their Services, and the Case ran for three Years, from 2013 to 2016.

So just imagine how much money they must’ve spent for the PCA’s Services alone. The Duterte Administration should investigate to know how much AbNoy Panot spent for that Publicity Stunt just so it can say they “won” something against China.

The Katropa DWDD Facebook Page and Youtube Channel featured the new BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN) last April 17, 2021. I have edited their original Video to show only the Frigate itself.

Among the things they discussed were the major Weapons and Equipment of the Ship like the Mistral RC Surface to Air Missile (SAM), Oto Melara 76 mm Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM), Torpedo Tubes and the Aselsan SMASH 30 mm Cannon.
